I made this birthday card for my daughter-in-law for her birthday in August.

- the corners and thin borders are from Paper Wishes and Dazzles

Grad Card

Hey blogger friends!

I can't believe it's been almost 2 mos since my last post.
Guess I've been in a slump lately with no desire to make anything.

But hopefully after today I think I'll be making up for that starting with this graduation card I made for my son who's graduation from the Aeronautics/Astronautics Program at the University of Washington in June.
He has 2 graduating ceremonies, 1 for the U of W, and 1 for the A/A Program so I'll be making another card for the 2nd one too.

Plus there's my husband's B-day and Fathers day all within that week - whew!

As with most of my ideas these days, I got this from Pinterest.
The U of W's colors are purple and gold and even tho this came out really well, I think I want to make another one and switch up the colors and make purple the main color just to see which one I like best.

I've been wanting to use these Heartfelt Creations Dogwood dies, stamps and papers for quite sometime now and here's what I came up with.
-Shaped card: Crafter's Companion Create-a-Card Emma dies, largest
-Cheery Lynn Polynesian Sails Oval die
-Spellbinders Petite Oval largest & Petite Scalloped Oval smallest
-Just Rite Easter sentiment Happy Everything Tag set

You can't see it because the bow is covering it up,  but these Emma dies are made to put on the fold of a 6x6" pc of paper and it does open up.

I love St Patrick's Day and 4 leaf clovers or shamrocks. And even though I'm not Irish in anyway, I guess 4 leaf clovers remind me of my mom.
I remember as a kid, she would always be out in our yard looking for 4 leaf clovers and even though it took some time, she somehow managed to find one or two. I found this one in our yard several years ago and don't know why I taped it to the lid of one of my jar candles, but there it is and when I look at it, I think of my mom. LOVE YOU MOM!!! Can't wait to see you again in heaven!

 
Anyway, I saw a card like this, as usual, on Pinterest, thought it was adorable and decided to give it a shot. The original one was 4 1/4" x 5 1/2, but I wanted it a little bigger so I started out with a 6 x 6",  and cut one side down to 5 1/2" x 6" and I literally just eyeballed it, made a few changes, and here's what I came up with.

This is similar to an A2 size (4 1/4" x 5 1/2") card that I made years ago. I love the green and gold color combo so I thought I'd recreate it and change it up a bit by making it an A7 size (5"x7") with different images.

This is an actual original from yours truly. I just love red n black for Valentines,  a great color combo.
The center heart n flowers are dies from Crafters Companion called "Love is in the Air", the corners are from Cheery Lynn, the sentiment is from one of the heart Dazzles from Paper Wishes, the 2 gemstone hearts n fillagree on the sides are from Want 2 Scrap, and the cupid dies cuts I bought from a vendor on Ebay. This one was originally red and I glittered it black.

                    Inside:   The heart dies are from Cheery Lynn too.

Snowed again yesterday and last night, about 8" w/ temps down in the 20s. We've had a pretty mild winter up till now and she hit w/ a vengence, lasting all next wk w/ 2-3" a day, yikes! Great days for stayin' inside and making cards!

The pink, white and red gatefold die is from Tattered Lace called Deco Gatefold Card that I got from Ecstasy Crafts and when I first saw this  I just had to have it. Because of it's size, (8 1/4 x 10 1/2") it was a pretty penny. ($70) I've been obsessed with this Art Deco theme lately, buying everything I can find. And I guess it's pretty big in the UK and Europe right now. The image is from Hunkydory's Mirri Magic/Deco Dreams Collection called Deco Date Night. I just love it, so pretty!

This particular image has several layers that you can stack for dimension, but not all of them do.
